Yellow fever international vaccination card?

So, have you ever heard of yellow fever international vaccination certificate? Neither had I until I tried to come from Brazil to Roatan last month. And believe me, I found out the hard way. Picture this, you are three hours before your flight takes off at the airport with all your luggage, go through the whole line, documentation ready to check in...good so far... but as soon as you get at the counter to check in, someone asks for your yellow fever international vaccination certificate. Right! That's it!!! And no one warns you about it when you are booking your ticket online. Oh, I didn't have one so I couldn't board. When I thought it was bad, it got worse! As soon as I said I didn't have one, they told me first to take the shot as soon as possible because  I would have to wait for 10 days to board. That's supposedly the time it takes to the yellow fever vaccination starts working on your immune system.
I went home that night devastaded and there was nothing I could do but taking the shot the following morning. And that's what I did, took the shot and rebooked my flight.
My piece of advice, take the yellow fever shot!!! More than 120 countries require the yellow fever international vaccination certificate card in order to allow you to get in the country and the list of countries is updated almost every month. In other words, the country you're planning to visit is not in the list this month, but it might be included in the next one. For example, you can't board from South America to any country in Central America or the Caribbean without one. After taking the shot, look for the local agency in your country which is in charge of the emission of the yellow fever international vaccination certificate. With that, you'll be good to go and enjoy your vacation!

Ballet Shoes

Life has funny ways to make us live again happy memories we had to leave behind at some point in our past. One of my happiest childhood-teenage memories are directly linked to ballet. I remember my mom getting me dressed for my ballet classes when I was 3 years, going to classes and practising for long hours all the exercises until reaching the perfection... For years, that was part of my life.
So, here I am, many years later on putting on my ballet shoes  again. It all happened after talking to Wendy, a dear friend who is a very talented ballerina and owner of a studio in Roátan. She kindly offered me to help her with some of her classes. I gotta confess that , at first, I panicked... "OH MY!! Will I be able to do it? It's been so long and I fear I won't be good enough." But I remember all the new challenges I have faced throughout these last 6 months and Wendy's wise words " Don't ever say you can't".  Therefore, I decided to take the chance and let life, once again, flow its own way. I just gotta thank a patient angel named Wendy who is crazy enough to believe in me...
Well, let another journey begin...

Allegro Ballet Studio,

Here I go again!

February 26, 2012 #2

One realizes what they are missing once they taste it...
You understand this living and being here, immersing yourself in the beauty, breathing the fresh air and letting the soft tropical breezes caress the body and sooth the soul.
This is a happy place, where everybody has a smile, and a friendly hello, and where life is much simpler and relaxed.
I am grateful to be a part of this new life and to share it with someone so special as my love, Jessica.

Waking up every day looking at this,

or  watching another day goes by from our balcony...

...makes us realize how many simple things in life, we missed because we didn't have time to enjoy them. As a matter of fact, we didn't even care because our minds were focused on the craziness of our daily lives. Waking up, driving to work, working, driving home and going to bed. This is life back in major cities.
It's been a month now, Tom and I came to Roátan. Time really flies when you are in paradise. We have never been happier as now... But the funny thing is, it took me a while to adjust myself to the calm and peaceful life in Roátan. I guess I can say I am a great example of someone who lived to work, a truly workaholic. So when I came to Roátan, my mind and body went to a detox program ... a rehab to my soul and mind... where I had to train myself to let go all the craziness I once lived.
After 30 days, life is brighter, calmer, easier, more beautiful and pleasant like never before. That's Roátan pumping already in our veins.

We want to share with people out there like us, how life is in this small piece of heaven!

Carpe Diem, friends!
